If you've ever been curious about Wicca, so this is the book for you!Wicca emerged in the United States in the 1960s every bit an Earth-centered organized religion that incorporates diety and ritual.

One thing that surprised me is how low-delivery you can be and nevertheless be considered a Wiccan.
Somehow, I e'er thought it was an all-or-nothing sort of matter. Only, evidently I was very mistaken.
It's possible to accept a full Wiccan practice without harnessing energy or casting spells. From at that place we talk about the popular Wiccan traditions and typical aspects of the spiritual side.
Everyone'southward spiritual journey is different, and what makes your journey unique is the fact that you lot have your ain goals, ideas, and convictions. The residual of the book focuses on the rituals involved.
Information technology begins by laying out the basic requirements (i.e. cauldron, crystals and candles) and the cadre rituals (i.e. purification circle).
From there, we learn about the Sun Celebrations (Sabbats), Moon Celebrations (Esbats) and various Wiccan Rites.
I really enjoyed reading about the history of the rites and how modern Wiccas go about them.
I felt like learned a lot and dear the thought of some of the rituals (which focus on celebrating nature and promoting goodwill).
All in all, this is a peachy introduction to Wicca and its holidays!
A huge thank you to Rockridge Press, Callisto Publisher'due south Club and Ambrosia Hawthorne for sending me a free copy in substitution for an honest review.

As a seasoned witch, I was particularly excited about reviewing this book, which has been described every bit an essential guide for Wiccans to 'enhance their exercise and deepen their organized religion'.Even though most books end upwardly as reference guides to dip in and out of, I even so desire to feel a connection to the author. This connectedness is apace established via Hawthorn's personal Wicca journey in the cute introduction; and here she explains that Wicca should always remain a personal path. A heartening start for new and old practitioners akin.
There follows engaging sections on Nature, Deity, Magic and how they relate to Wiccan practice. Nearly helpfully, Hawthorn takes an early on opportunity to talk about what Wicca isn't, and covers the pop Wicca traditions; helping the reader navigate an often-confusing mural. Ane of the things I love virtually virtually this book, and Hawthorn'due south writing, is her power to pack the about of import information into a relatively modest space.
The reader is fully immersed in the origins and beliefs of Wicca earlier being moved on to the second part. You might anticipate that half a book dedicated to Wiccan ritual might be tough going, merely it isn't. Hawthorn manages to expertly cover all aspects of Wiccan ritual in a light, sensitive, and informative manner. She gives excellent volume suggestions for further reading, and offers magical insight for each stage of the ritual process.
Included is a plethora of comprehensive rituals covering the Sabbats and Esbats of Bike of the twelvemonth, and how we fit into that cycle as humans. In fact, the beautiful rituals Hawthorn offers upward are thoughtful, emotional, and considered. The rituals are varied, they are uncomplicated to carry out, only they're also involved enough for yous to experience that you are truly getting to the center of Wicca. Wiccan rites are often overlooked, but the inclusion of these, including handfasting and funerary rites, are such a welcome addition to this book; and in that location would have been something missing had Hawthorn excluded them.
If you enjoyed Glennie Kindred'southward Sacred Celebrations then I guarantee yous will savor Seasons of Wicca. Hawthorn has cleverly split this book into two parts; the first office explaining Wicca, and the second roofing the themes and practical aspects of following the Wiccan path. This is as perfect a framework as i could promise for in a book on this subject; and I am impressed at the clarity and simplicity with which everything is laid out.
In fact, everything is then just and systematically explained that this book is a must-have for the magical bookshelf. The wonderful rituals included in this book are perfect for those starting out on a Wiccan path; or for those who accept walked the path for a while, and are wishing to explore Wiccan ritual in greater depth.
This is an empowering, educational, joyful, and life-affirming book that makes Wiccan ritual accessible. Information technology allows yous to fully integrate yourself into the Wiccan religion with ease; and worship with significant and intent.

[*Well, and at the chance of digressing even further, i of the other things that's made me interested in paganism is that, here at the Chicago co-op I moved into earlier this year, I've simply started a coming twelvemonth-long apprenticeship for our 20-bed community garden; and this has made me really eager to comprehend the so-called "wheel of the twelvemonth" which goes back to the get-go of agriculture, in which pagans would organize special celebrations (or "sabbats") centered around viii special days in the solar agricultural twelvemonth. (Very chop-chop, I promise -- there'south the Winter and Summer Solstices [Yule and Litha], the days we respectively get the least and most amount of sunlight in a twenty-four hour period; the Leap and Autumn Equinoxes [Ostara and Mabon], the two days a year when we take exactly 12 hours apiece of day and night; and the four days that fall exactly in the heart between each of these spans, which roughly correspond to our mod holidays of Groundhog Mean solar day [Imbolc], May Day [Beltane], and Halloween [Samhain]. [The i remaining, Lammas on Baronial 1st, has no modernistic equivalent.]) Pagans used these sabbats as a checklist to tell them what work needed to be done in their gardens that particular calendar month and a half; so in my admittedly somewhat goofy desire to really comprehend my gardening apprenticeship to its fullest, I would like to acknowledge these sabbats all through 2021 every bit well. Whew, digression over!]
All this is a really roundabout way of maxim that Ambrosia Hawthorn's Seasons of Wicca fits the beak quite nicely, a plain-spoken and celebratory introduction to the religion, thorough and well-researched but not overly long or bookish like some of the other guides I've now read. (Back in pre-Christian days, seemingly every unmarried ane of the thousands of villages in Europe each had their own separate form of celebrating these sabbats, and some of these guides are determined to tell you near each and every single one of them.) Presenting both an overview of what Wicca is all about, and a detailed guide to how Wiccans celebrate the viii sabbats, this is both a history book and a practical how-to, hands skipped if y'all're already a practicing Wiccan but near a perfect beginner'south guide if you're not. Gorgeously designed on meridian of everything else, information technology comes strongly recommended to those similar me who know zero about paganism and are not sure where to starting time, and information technology should be read in this spirit.

Permit me start off by saying this is a beautiful book. The illustrations are simple, nonetheless appropriate. Moving on to the introduction - the writer states that this book is for new and experienced practitioners, but I have to disagree with that. This book is for beginners. The bulk of experienced practitioners are going to exist bored to death by this book, but beginners should observe it useful and fascinating.I did take a couple of issues with it, only since everyone's exercise is personal and I do not have a Wiccan practice I'chiliad not going to say that the author is wrong. I simply want to point out for anyone interested that I wouldn't practice 99% of the rituals in this book as rituals, but as spells instead. A lot of these rituals don't necessarily require casting a circle or calling on deity. For me information technology kind of seems similar calling on your highest power for something mundane...it's unnecessary, but that's just my personal stance.
Overall, good book for beginners, simply not for experienced practitioners. I would seek out other books if you're looking for more in depth information.

As far as bieng an Essantial Guide, I think at that place could have been more than content and in depth information presented. As stated, if you are just starting out and looking for bones knowledge and understanding, I think you would bennefit from this book.
Even so, for anyone who knows the basics already, I don't call up there is much you can learn from this book. There are many other books out there that are like that comprise more in depth information that can help you in your ritual workings.
I did similar the minimalist art and thought it brought enough visual content withought taking away from the information itself.

A beautifully designed and illustrated book. I was hoping this would be more an introduction to Wicca, beacuse I don't know very much about it and was hoping to learn some nuts. It does go over some basics, simply it's more often than not filled with spells and rituals for all the seasons of the year. Then maybe it would be more suited for somebody who actually knows stuff about Wicca to showtime with. Only it'southward a really cute book and would exist great for someone who practices!Thank you very much to Callisto Publishers for providing me with a re-create. A review was not required.
